2025 Trip Update and Spring New
Put 7 ladies together and you get lots of luggage, lots of laughter and lots of love! We had an amazing team of dedicated Haddis supporters join our January 2025 trip. God has given them all a love for the people of Ethiopia and we are so thankful for each of them!
These beautiful baskets and Ethiopian goods will be available for purchase at our 4th Annual A Night With Haddis Event on May 2!
Success Story: Edilawit
Edilawit joined our special needs school, Desta
Academy, last year. Her mother Sewenet expressed her gratitude for the services she receives, “She eats her breakfast and lunch here. In addition, before joining the program, she couldn’t speak, but now she started speaking and communicates well! She is in very good condition, and I am happy about that. I would like to really thank you, and may God bless you.”
Hygiene and Handprints
We delivered over 350 hygiene packs filled with necessities like toothbrushes, hair picks and socks. The biggest hit though was the pack of gum that each child received. Thank you to our Bishop Moore Haddis Club members for packing each bag! We also had fun with finger paint creating a thank your banner for our supporters!
Mothers of Morning Light
We enjoyed spending time with the mothers
of Morning Light and were overwhelmed by their gratitude for all that Haddis is providing for their children and families. They were such an encouragement to us and inspire us to continue to advocate on their behalf. We had the honor of distributing their bi-monthly food support and hearing the many ways that sponsorship has improved their lives and the lives of their children.
High School Update
Phase 1 of our High School is almost ready to welcome the first class of students! We were delighted to see how much progress has been made and know that this school will be a blessing to our kids as well as the surrounding community for years to come! The first phase houses the administrative offices, chemistry, biology and physics labs, a home economic/vocational classroom, the library, a teacher’s lounge, bathroom facilities and a classroom for our first class of 9th graders.
We are thankful that Phase 2 will begin shortly thanks to another generous grant from the Caneza Foundation. This next phase will include 8 additional classrooms.
We are praying for the remaining funds needed for Phase 3 which will bring the total number of classrooms to 16 and hopefully allow for a paved driveway up to the high school. It is our dream that this school would be the premier high school in the area and a model for education in the community!
Tesfa Project
Offering hope to abandoned and orphaned infants.
Our Tesfa Project in Gondar has provided a safe place for abandoned babies for the past 5 years. The staff at BOH shared that they are often called to take babies found by local police or left in hospitals, but without funding, they had to turn them away. The Tesfa Project has changed that by providing resources for these babies to be loved and nurtured in the hope of being adopted by a local Ethiopian family. Since starting the program, babies have been welcomed into adoptive homes!
Interested in going to Ethiopia?
We have a few spaces left on our July 11-21 trip.
