Haddis NEWS
This fall, we rejoice over the many success stories and progress that has been made in 2024.
Most of our students excelled and were promoted to the next grade level and some are celebrating high school, college or vocational graduation! The promotion rate increased from 57% to 90% with our children in Addis Ababa! Haddis’ children wrote letters for their sponsors over the summer before heading back to school in September. In addition, we eagerly await the completion of our private highschool and we’re thrilled that our first class of 9th graders will be moving into the building later this school year.
Preschool Launch!
Food shortages, lack of access to education and poverty profoundly impact the majority of children in Gondar. Recently, a large number of applicants, 356 children applied for 18 available slots for sponsorship, demonstrating the depth of poverty in the region. To support a greater number of children, Bridge of Hope proposed a preschool project for those who did not receive sponsorship.
For only $3500, a preschool classroom was constructed and staffed to support 40 students for an entire year!
Success Story
Fitih
A notable success from the special needs program is that Fitih has been promoted to general education Kindergarten at the BOH school after passing his entrance exam with good results. This achievement highlights
the positive educational outcomes and significant difference in the lives of these children and their families.
Desta Academy Successful First Year
A beautiful ceremony occurred to celebrate a year of success with our special needs class! Moms were overjoyed to see their child’s progress in communication and independence. This is the only special needs school in the Gondar community and moms are finally able to work and provide for their family with the support of their child safely in school.
Breaking down Barriers: The program helps children feel free from bias and stigma, promoting a sense of belonging in the community.
High School Update
The final construction phase for our new 9th Grade Center is underway and furniture and classroom supplies have been ordered. We are hopeful that our 9th grade students, currently at our lower school, will be moving into the new facility at the beginning of the year. We are praying our fundraising efforts allows us to add a new wing for 10-12 grades.

Praise & Prayer
We recently started a regular food distribution program to help address the food insecurity of the kids and their families in Addis.
The moms of Morning Light are quite grateful with the additional help they have received. They said this will help their entire family and relieve a lot of burden and stress.
Estifanos shared, “You have helped us from the costly expense of schooling and educational materials.” He is sponsored by the Burkey Family.
Birtukan said, “After I got a sponsor my life has changed. I got so many materials; I am being fruitful in my academics. My life is going well.” She is sponsored by the Grieb Family.
Yetneberk stated, “Thank God who gave you to me. My current situation is very, very good.” Thank you to the Prather and
